This course is designed as a train-the-trainer program and contains both awareness and operations level components. Module I is an awareness level course designed for a wide audience. This module focuses on a basic overview of hazardous materials, identifying a contaminated patient, controlling the scene and activating the hospital’s response plan. The operations modules II-IV are designed for hospital personnel who are part of a decontamination team and will be involved in decontaminating patients. These modules teach hospital personnel how to don and doff Level C PPE and how to safely and effectively decontaminate patients who present at the ED. This course is designed specifically to prepare the participant to perform decontamination within a health care setting. It is NOT designed to teach decontamination within the “hot zone.”
Important Note for Operations Level Attendees:
You will not receive your Certificate of Attendance if you do not bring a set of PPE to demonstrate. PPE includes a hazmat suit, respirator, gloves and boots.
