CINCINNATI – The Health Collaborative recently announced the addition of two new members to its award-winning board of directors: Steve Martenet, President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio; and Teresa Tanner, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Fifth Third Bank. Martenet’s term is slated to end in December 2018, while Tanner will serve through December 2019.

Steve Martenet oversees the management of the Anthem’s commercial business and strategy in Ohio, as well as its 3,700 employees. Anthem has grown to nearly 4 million members statewide. A native of Mansfield, Ohio, he recently relocated from St. Louis where he had been President of Anthem’s commercial business in Missouri since 2011.

Martenet was Anthem’s vice president of sales in Southern Ohio from 2000-2004 and he held a similar role in Kentucky 2004-2005. He was president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Wisconsin from 2005-2009 and president of Anthem specialty products 2009-2011. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also earned Academic All-America honors as a forward on BGSU’s basketball team.

”The Health Collaborative shares Anthem’s belief that collaboration is the key to creating an efficient, effective and quality-driven health care system,” says Martenet. “We’re fortunate to have The Health Collaborative in our community and I’m excited to contribute to their mission of fostering communication and coordination among Greater Cincinnati’s healthcare innovators.”

Teresa Tanner oversees almost 600 employees in five separate divisions including Fifth Third’s Enterprise Workplace Services and Strategic Sourcing divisions. Previous to 2015, she was EVP and chief human resources officer for the Bank, leading a division of more than 300 Human Capital professionals. Before joining Fifth Third in 2004, Tanner was VP of Human Resources Employment for Provident Bank.

Tanner attended Pensacola Christian College and received her MBA from Xavier University. She serves on the board of directors for Vectren Corporation, an energy holding company headquartered in IN, and Fifth Third Bank (Tennessee) as well as on the board of directors for the National Minority Supplier Diversity Development Council (NMSDC). She is chair of Ronald McDonald House Charities, vice-chair of the ArtsWave Board of Trustees, and serves as the city-wide corporate chair for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (Light the Night). She also is an active member of the United Way Tocqueville Society, Women’s Leadership Council and Cincinnati Women’s Executive Forum.

“Our region is as strong as its healthcare,” Tanner said. “I’m privileged to help the Health Collaborative create a healthier community for our children to grow up, for businesses to expand and for our region to become stronger together. I’m looking forward to bringing the voice of a large regional employer into this important work.”

Craig Brammer, CEO of The Health Collaborative, recognizes the importance of involving the business and insurance provider sectors in the work of the organization: “Our work as a trusted, neutral convener of health and healthcare stakeholders only works if we garner representation from all local sectors and points of view. Bringing Teresa and Steve on board ensures that a broad cross-section of the Greater Cincinnati community is heard. I’m looking forward to counting both of them among the innovative decision-makers who are working to make Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky healthier by design.”
