Barnabas Nixon, Technical Support Analyst

Barnabas Nixon is one of our newest employees – or should we say one of our “oldest” new employees?

He has been working with us as a contractor for the past eight months in our Customer Service department, and has just recently been hired on as an official employee of The Health Collaborative.  Barnabas has more than proven his Help Desk chops and always greets customers and staff alike with a good-natured smile and thoughtful, helpful demeanor.

When he’s not hidden away in his Customer Service corner, Barnabas teaches college courses and spends time at the gym with his bodybuilder buddies. We caught up with Barnabas to find out what else gets him out of bed in the morning.

Q: Hi, Barnabas! We already know you’re a technical guru and stellar problem-solver, so let’s talk about the fun stuff. First: What book are you currently (or most recently) reading?
A: Animal Farm by George Orwell. He represented the characters with animals who revolted against their human owners for independence only to be faced with the tyranny of their most trusted leader, Napoleon. It captures politics and leadership at all levels of life.

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?
A: Drivers on the highway driving slowly 😊

Q: What is your favorite Netflix or Hulu show?
A: YOU on Netflix. It’s a story of a manipulative young man who feels he must fight for the love of his life but ends up being a stalker and a murderer and losing everything. He keeps running away from his own shadows. Definitely a thriller.

Q: Did you play any sports in high school or college?
A: I was an active part of the soccer team of my school (which was a boarding school). The 5am Saturday wake up call to “duty” in preparation for a competition was always exciting.

Q: What are your favorite songs from your teenage years that you still rock out to when nobody is listening?
A: I listen to 2-PAC and Eminem very often when no one is listening.
