Meet one of our newest team members, Lauren Myers! Lauren joined us in July as our Workforce Innovation Coordinator. We caught up with her to learn more.
Q: What are you currently working on at The Health Collaborative that you are most excited about?
A: There are a few things I’m excited to be working on right now, but one of the biggest is Ohio’s Rural Health Transformation Program! Being part of a $10 million statewide initiative focused on improving healthcare access, outcomes and workforce development across Ohio’s 73 non-urban counties is an exciting opportunity. I love being part of something bigger that can create meaningful change for communities across our state.
I’m also excited to be working on the Ohio Healthcare Virtual Career Fair. While it’s a different project, it connects to something I’m passionate about: helping people learn about the many different opportunities available in healthcare. I think there’s so much more to healthcare careers than what people typically think of, and we’re helping show people the possibilities.
Q: We know it’s early, but do you have a favorite part of your job so far?
A: I love being part of something bigger that can make an impact. I’ve always been passionate about improving workflows, helping people and finding ways to make things work better. I enjoy being able to jump in, figure things out and help move a project forward. There’s something really satisfying about taking an idea, or even a problem, and turning it into something that helps people.
That’s what makes this work so exciting to me. I get to help improve things, help people and be part of projects that can have a much bigger impact than any one person could make on their own.
Q: Help us get to know you even more! What are your favorite hobbies or activities outside of work?
A: Outside of work, most of my time revolves around my family. My husband, Garrett, and I have been married for almost 14 years, and we have a daughter who just started high school. Between soccer and track, there’s never a shortage of activity! I also love my houseplants, our three dogs, and creative projects. I’m usually happiest when I’m making, creating or figuring out what’s next.
Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
A: I’d love to explore more of the western United States. There’s so much I haven’t seen yet, and I’d love to spend time taking in the scenery, exploring new places and experiencing landscapes that are so different from home. A road trip with plenty of stops along the way sounds pretty perfect to me.
