This summer we’ve welcomed Ana Nieto to spend the summer working with our Human Resources department.
Ana is a Strategic Communications major at Miami University, so she’ll be working on HR communications projects in addition to helping with forms and new hire onboarding tasks. We spent a few minutes getting to know more about Ana and what she’s planning to accomplish over the next couple of months.
Q: Hi, Ana! Let’s start with an overview of your role at THC – what are you up to this summer?
A: I am the HR intern, basically my job is to help Nicci [Weber, Director, HR & Organization Development] get some of the workload off her plate, and help with Paycor and I-9 documents.
Q: Tell us about a current activity or project you’re working on, or involved in.
A: Right now I am working to get all the I-9’s scanned and put into Paycor. I am also updating demographic information in Paycor.
Q: What book are you currently (or most recently) reading?
A: I just finished a book by the founder of a skin care line Tatcha called Pure Skin about the Japanese ritual of glowing.
Q: Where are you enrolled in school and are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I’m about to be a senior at Miami University majoring in Strategic Communications and Chinese with a minor in Sociology. I’m also a T.A. in an Art History course and am a part of Habitat for Humanity.
Q: What’s your favorite stress-relieving activity outside of the office, and why?
A: I enjoy doing face masks, I like to read and spend time with family, and I like to play solitaire or any card game.
Q: Where is your favorite vacation spot? Or, tell us a bit about your most favorite vacation ever.
A: My favorite vacation spot is Koh Samui in Thailand. I grew up in China and Thailand was only a two-hour flight away so we went there frequently.
Q: What book are you currently (or most recently) reading?
A: I just finished a book by the founder of a skin care line Tatcha called Pure Skin about the Japanese ritual of glowing.
Q: If you could be in a movie of your choice, what movie would you choose and what character would you play?
A: I would want to be in the Hunger Games as one of the tributes from one of the districts that usually wins.
Q: If you could, what time period would you visit in history?
A: I would visit the Downton Abbey era (early 1900s) because I like the extravagant fashion from that era.
Q: If you were stuck on an island and could choose one person to be stuck with who would it be? Why?
A: I would want to be stuck with my dad because he’s the least panicky in the family and the strongest to help build things if we needed.
Q: What is your favorite Netflix or Hulu show?
A: I just finished Flashpoint. I also like House, Queen of the South, and crime shows.
Q: If you could drink one drink other than water for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: A mojito (Don’t worry, she’s 21!)
Q: What did you want to be when you grew up as a child?
A: I wanted to be an OB/GYN because of a TLC show I watched but then got to middle school and realized I didn’t like science.
Q: What was your favorite outdoor activity as a child?
A: I actually didn’t like the outdoors but I liked walking my dog and if I had to pick an outdoor activity it would be hiking.
Q: Did you play any sports in high school or college?
A: I played soccer from 1st grade until 10th grade.
Q: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
A: Hopefully employed, maybe getting another degree. I’d like to stay in Cincinnati or near my family. Possibly married, probably no kids yet; I want to adopt.
Q: So far what is your favorite part about your job?
A: I like that I’ve been able to get to know the employees by their names. The small office feel makes it easy for me to get to know people.
