Welcome Summer Interns!

THC’s Workforce Initiatives team welcomes Thea and Sophie!

As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, The Health Collaborative is excited to welcome our summer interns!

This summer, we welcome Sophie Steinhaus and Thea Han to the THC team.

Sophie and Thea will be joining our Workforce Initiatives team to help support and execute Tap Health Summer Academy. Sophie is a psychology/social work student at the University of Kentucky and Thea is a business and French student at Denison University.

The TAP Health Summer Academy is a group of career exploration programs consisting of TAP MD; TAP RN; and TAP HC – programs which respectively help guide high school students through the ins & outs of seeking a career as a physician, registered nurse, or any career within the broad spectrum of healthcare. This summer, nearly 100 students will have the opportunity to attend events at 25 different health or education sites around the region!

Sophie and Thea were already able to meet some TAP Health high school students at our first Lab Coat Pick-Up event and at Orientation during their first week! We got the chance to chat with these two, where we learned more about them and what they’re looking forward to during their summer with us.

Q: We are so excited to have you guys on our team for the summer! What are you most looking forward to?

Sophie: I am excited to connect with students and watch them learn at the different TAP Health events!

Thea: I am looking forward to interacting with the students and working with a great team at The Health Collaborative! Everybody has already been so supportive and encouraging, and I am excited to continue learning and growing with this team.

Q: What is your favorite part of the job so far?

Sophie: Engaging with the students! I love seeing how excited they are about TAP Health and it is great knowing that we are making an impact for them.

Thea: I love the creative freedom that I have been given. I have the guidance that I need but have been able to implement some of my own ideas and add my own creative touches.

Q: What is your favorite pass time outside of work?

Sophie: I love spending time outside, going on walks or going to the pool.

Thea: I enjoy going on hikes and doing arts and crafts! I recently hiked Denny Creek in Washington and I have been really into oil paints and oil pastels as of late.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Sophie: I would love to go to Greece. I’ve been abroad before and loved it, but I want to experience the Greek culture.

Thea: I really want to hike Patagonia and see the southern lights. I have never been to South America and would love to experience the nature and culture.

Good luck to our summer interns as they dive into their projects and help us solve some of healthcare’s toughest challenges together! Watch for internship opportunities posted regularly on THC’s Careers page and learn more about the TAP Health and other Workforce Innovation initiatives here.  The Health Collaborative’s Workforce Initiatives interns are made possible by a grant from HealthPath Foundation of Ohio.
